Music CD package design for Vandana's 2nd CD 'The Power of Love'. Included Photography, Digital painting and creative direction. Musical style: Jazz, Broadway and Power Ballads. I'm also working with Vandana to create some additional marketing materials to help advertise her show. |

Challenge
What do you do when your younger sister comes to you and asks you to design her a CD cover that makes her look sexy? Well, I figured since she was asking me, she probably knew she was going to get a sophisticated interpretation of the notion of sexy customized to capture the uniqueness of her elegance, beauty and talent. Another requirement was to somehow incorporate a sunflower. Together we selected the final photos, she gave me the text, and then she gave me total creative freedom (and a deadline :) |

Results
The CD packaging has been a great success since it jumped of the press in Los Angeles. The vibrant colors and alluring photography have captured the imagination of her audiences and fans across the country. People's first comment tends to be 'wow' when they see the CD, and after staring at it for a while, they open it up. So, I guess as a marketing design, we hit the mark. Some folks have bought the CD simply for the cover, but then when they hear the music, they are totally blown away and we end up with a very happy customer and a new fan for Vandana's vocally powerful music. There is a debate over which is the favorite photo, the front cover shot is the alluring shot, but a close contender is that swaying back cover shot with it's mysterious stance, as if you've stumbled upon Vandana just before she goes on stage. |
